Jennifer Yen began her writing career in the fourth grade, when her teacher took the detective story she wrote and turned it into a short printed book as a gift to her. The encouragement of her teacher, as well as her love for reading and telling stories, kept her writing about the worlds that existed in her imagination. While she has written short stories, poetry, and fanfiction, her passion lies in young adult and adult fiction. Jennifer Yen is a supporter of the #ownvoices and #weneeddiversebooks literary movements, determined to write stories that represent her cultural background and experiences with mental health.
Jennifer Yen lives in Houston, Texas with her adorable rescue dog. By day, she stays busy with her work as a doctor, splitting her time between academia and private practice, specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine. She is on the editorial advisory board for Clinical Psychiatric News, and has contributed articles to webzines TVAfterDark and NerdeekLife as a Senior Writer and Editor. She is also the Health Advisor for local philanthropic lifestyle magazine CKW Luxe. By night, she is a passionate writer dedicated to working on her next book, with hopes of bringing a little magic into the world of each of her readers.
